Red and purple brick with a flavour

Aubergine of Nelissen Brickworks is a hand-moulded facing brick from the Passion range.


The facing brick is non-perforated and sanded on five sides. Aubergine is provided with a possible oblong sloping groove on one flat side (frog, group 1).

The structure of this facing brick is characterized by a rough appearance with fine and irregular grooves in the sandy surface. The surface of the brick is red. The colour varies from wine red to dark red with purple shades.

Nelissen Brickworks gets these nuances by mixing Lpss clay with reddish brown, grainy, moist sand and various melting oxides. The baking process is done in a gas-fired tunnel kiln under a slightly reducing atmosphere.
